2010 RAF Hawk Display Scheme Revealed

2010 Display Scheme
After months of planning, design and consultation with colleagues and aviation enthusiasts, Flt Lt Tom Saunders has given GAR the green-light to publish the paint scheme that he has chosen to adorn his 2010 display airframes. The scheme has been approved by senior commanders at RAF Valley and subject to some final administration, the paint shop will start work on the two jets within the next few weeks.

A variation on those which have been the subject of lively debate on the internet for the past few weeks, the scheme commemorates the 50th Anniversary of 4 FTS (Flying Training School) at RAF Valley. Special display schemes have become Read more...

Flaming Cliffs 2

fc2VRA running preliminary tests on the highly anticipated Flaming Cliffs 2 simulator platform. This upgrade includes an overhaul of the main game engine, textures, more accurate flight data and many more improvements which may help develop our team to a new level. Feature list here. We will continue to test this platform before deciding to make a full switch from Flaming Cliffs 1.12.

Seeking Media Personnel

Become a vital asset to one of the largest virtual aerobatic teams on the internet. We are actively searching for qualified personnel to help us with narration, public relations and media.  Please contact us to express your interest.

A Positive Step Forward

The VRA are making a positive step forward after experiencing some disagreements within the team concerning how we should fly this year's show routine. Unfortunately various issues could not be amicably resolved; we are sad to receive the news that 3 of our pilots will be voluntarily leaving us. We would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their services to the VRA and wish them well with their future endeavours.

The remaining members are confident that the new decisions concerning various maneuvers and show dynamics have been made for the good of team. 2009 pilots are now being recalled and we will be intensely training 1-2 new recruits in preparation for our live performances this year. We know it's been a while since we released media showcasing our latest training efforts, we'll be sure to rectify this as soon as possible and keep you updated as always with the latest team developments and progress.

Presenting Synchro 2011

Ells makes the active team

Congratulations to Ells for making the active flying team in the number 8 position! Ells has been with the VRA since 2005 and was among the founding members. In 2009 Ells became the team's PR manager and commentator for our live performances including VFAT 2009. Ells made the decision to train for an active pilot slot in the fall of 2010 and has been flying with us ever since. He has made a steady progress, and has shown us that PR managers can do more then just PR! Great work Ells and thank you for all that you do for the team behind the scenes.

Blondie Makes Active

Well done to Blondie on his promotion to the active flying team as Red 4. Blondie passed his original entry flight and became a recruit in late October 2010. During this time Blondie trained on all left, right and slot positions creating the most diversified VRA recruit to date. There was no question that this level of skill should be dedicated to the RED 4 position, Blondie has taken to the challenge extremely well and will continue to progress over the coming months. Coupled with a high energy level, knowledge of flight dynamics and formation technicalities Blondie is an asset to the team as we develop our show routine and overall skill set. Good to have you on board Blondie!

FLG Live Show

FLG 2011

At last.... it's our chance to perform for you! We missed out at VFAT 2010, we are back and ready to demonstrate our hard work. The VRA show will be streamed online and shown at two locations in Norway. One at the historic aircraft museum at Gardermoen and one at the FLG event itself. FLG will be advertised in local newspapers and on posters around Oslo.

FLG is a Norwegian Flight Sim Event, their main focus is to bring like-minded virtual pilots together to share their interests and skills. FLG hosts a large LAN "party" with realistic ATC and virtual human pilots. There are many exhibitions at the event including addon makers, and aircraft procedure demonstrations. There will be a number of cockpit simulators including a 737NG sim as used by real world pilots. It's by far the biggest event in the flight sim community in Norway, click here to visit the FLG website.

The Virtual Red Arrows display will be streamed live across the internet and directly onto the big screens at the event. Everyone attending FLG will have a great opportunity to watch the show. Internet fans who are unable to make FLG, hit the below link on 19th March 2011 14:00 GMT (UK Time).  http://www.livestream.com/vralive Don't miss it!

FLG 2011 Live Screenshots

Many thanks to everyone who watched our live display yesterday and for your very kind comments.
Although we had a few technical difficulties through the show, we are very pleased with our performance.

As with every great team, we are very critical of our own performance and will be working to improve for our next show at FSC Weston on 14th-15th May 2011.

We had great feedback from FLG, the event had a large audience including the press.
Our display was also received very well at the Frecce Tricolori Virtuali event in Verona.
Thank you for your hospitality on both counts.

For those of you that missed the live display, the replay stream is availabe on our channel.

Good luck to the teams displaying next weekend, we look forward to seeing your shows.
